Taiwanese Sun Moon Lake Red Jade Red Tea
60g Loose Tea per Bag  (9-12 sessions)

One of the best red teas in all of Taiwan, this Red Jade from Sun Moon Lake in Taiwan has a gloriously sweet, crisp, and malty flavor, with a special subtle methol-mintyness in the aftertaste.

What is Red Tea?
What we call "Black Tea" in the West, Chinese call "Red Tea" (Hong Cha 红茶.)

To respect Chinese tea tradition, I use the Chinese description of "Red Tea", but no matter the name, if you have had black tea before, the taste will be familiar to you!

About This Tea

Taiwan, while being most famous for its oolong teas, is also known for a small number of special red tea varietals, one of these being Red Jade.

Red Jade is known for its complex aftertaste, as well as packing a lot of flavor into a tea that is still very easy-drinking. It is excellent made hot as well as heavenly cold-brewed.

Jesse Says:

Red Jade is the bomb. It's one of my favorite Taiwanese teas and the Sun Moon Lake stuff in particular is the sort of thing I always get a bit of to bring back for the private stash. Make sure to enjoy the scent from the first steep, it's special!

OG fans of the Teahouse will remember we used to have a Red Jade tea on the shop back in 2022. I really liked that tea, but since I sourced that tea during COVID, when I couldn't travel and get my tea straight from the farms, it meant that I needed to feature a tea from a friend of mine's shop and meant the price was quite high and inaccessible for many tea drinkers.

Now, we have our own sourcing operation in China and are able to get the teas directly from local farmers. This means even higher quality at a better price, as well as allowing me to pack the tea into these 60g tins - bringing down the sticker price from before where people needed to buy 100g or even more.

VALUE AND QUALITY

Want the best value? This tea comes in 100g and 200g sizes - check the drop-down menu above!

Jesse's Teahouse started because Jesse realized the quality and value of the tea directly from the Beijing Tea Market was so much higher than what could be easily found in the States -- and around the world.

Jesse contacted his tea friends, they shipped their best teas to him, and he sends them to you. That's it!

These teas are high quality and can be re-steeped multiple times! Each serving makes between 4-8 cups of tea, so at around $.50 a cup, you get top quality Chinese teas at a price that you can enjoy every day.

NOT JUST TEA, TEA CULTURE

Jesse believes the key to making good tea is to help his Chinese tea friends share not just their best teas, but the best ways to make the teas.

That's why each box comes also comes with an info card that tells you:

  • Tea Origin
  • Steep Temperature
  • Steep Time
  • Directions for both teapot steeping and gaiwan steeping

All Jesse’s Teahouse Tea Friends (that’s you now!) also get access to private YouTube videos where Jesse and his Chinese tea friends show you how to make the teas and explain the tea-making process.

The links are on QR codes on the back of the info card included in the tea box.
