GABA-192 Oolong Tea

IMPORTANT NOTE: This tea contains Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid (GABA), a naturally occurring byproduct of this tea’s special process. GABA is a common neurotransmitter and because of its calming properties, it can interact with some types of medications and have some mild side effects.
If you take/have taken medications for conditions involving seizures, depression, anxiety, or blood pressure, or are pregnant or breastfeeding, please check with a medical professional before drinking.
What is a GABA Oolong?
Oolong tea is a tea type with the fragrance and freshness of green tea and also the deeper, richer tasting notes of red tea (known as black tea in the West).
GABA is a neurotransmitter protein which is created naturally inside the tea leaf as it undergoes the normal oolong tea-making process. As GABA has been associated with many good health outcomes, such as blood pressure reduction and stress relief, producers have started finding ways to increase the GABA in their finished tea leaves.
Recently, it has been discovered that by placing tea leaves inside a sealed chamber during processing, removing all oxygen and introducing additional nitrogen, tea-makers can a create a higher GABA count. Over 150 mg / 100g of tea is considered good, and our GABA has tested to contain 192 mg / 100g! This is why I named this tea "GABA-192."
Regardless of GABA count, this oolong is sweet, juicy, and tasty - a great choice for tea lovers of all sorts!

Jesse Says:
I have always been a bit cautious of GABA oolongs, since a lot of sellers online seem to make GABA oolong out to be a wonder drug of sorts.
For legal - and transparency reasons! - I want to make it clear that this is not a drug and not meant to treat any specific illness or condition.
That being said, of the many claims about specific health benefits of tea, GABA seems to have some of the best scientific research behind it. If you want to know more about GABA, check out this brief from the National Institutes of Health.
In the end, I feel even better sharing this tea because whatever the GABA count is, it's just straight up a great tea. Floral, juicy, with a clean taste and sweet finish, it's a winner no matter how you look at it!

Jesse believes the key to making good tea is to help his Chinese tea friends share not just their best teas, but the best ways to make the teas.
That's why each box comes also comes with an info card that tells you:
- Tea Origin
- Steep Temperature
- Steep Time
- Directions for both teapot steeping and gaiwan steeping
All Jesse’s Teahouse Tea Friends (that’s you now!) also get access to private YouTube videos where Jesse and his Chinese tea friends show you how to make the teas and explain the tea-making process.
The links are on QR codes on the back of the info card included in the tea box.
In Chinese Gongfu Tea Tradition, Tea Pets accompany you at teatime and you "raise" them by feeding them tea! Don't forget to check the tea pet page before you go!

Wow. This oolong is a cut above. Full of fall spice notes and my new favorite tea.
Smells kinda like pumpkin
I love this tea so much. I wish I had bought a larger portion to start off with. I will be getting the largest option next and it is something I will have on hand as long as it's offered.
For me personally I feel the calming properties of the GABA-192 A LOT. The combination of the rich smooth flavour and the relaxing feeling makes this tea the one I turn to on a tough day. Juicy is a really great word to describe this tea. I actually drink it not long before bed because it has such a soporific effect on me. valerian doesn't touch me... but this... I can physically feel the tension drain from my body by the 3rd steep.
I do get these effects from other oolong as well, but the feeling is much more pronouced from this particular tea.
This is my personal experience only, and I am particularly sensitive to certain compounds while others seem to be totally innert in my body. For all I know it's totally placebo... Do I care? Nope.
I swear to the Gods if you ever stop making this tea Jesse, you better tell me about an alternative XD
Love the tea!
