Why Use Silver Teaware?

Silver has been used as vessels for tea and drink for over a thousand years. In China, it has historically been used for chopsticks and drinking vessels due to its antimicrobial properties.

For tea drinkers, silver has been prized not just for its gorgeous appearance, but also because silver teaware softens the mouthfeel of liquids, creating a smoother, cleaner drinking experience. 

About Master Hong and his Workshop

Master Hong is a fifth-generation silversmith based in Heqing, Yunnan, China. Members of the Bai ethnic group, his family produces completely hand-made silver tea and tea equipment for the finest silver brands, as well as selling directly to discerning tea drinkers all throughout China.

The family’s courtyard home doubles as a workshop, where pure .999 silver sheet metal is cut, pounded, annealed, shaped, polished, engraved, and finished by hand. The creation of one silver teapot takes between 10 and 20 days, depending on the intricacy of the design. It passes through the hands of at least a dozen skilled laborers during this process.
