The centerpiece of the traditional Chinese Gongfu tea-making experience, a tea tray not only holds all your tea equipment, but also catches spill water and serves as a home for your tea pets.
Beyond its direct use making tea, tea trays also create a welcoming atmosphere for guests, inviting one and all to sit around the tray, enjoy tea and each others' company, stimulating conversation and enhancing the tea experience.
About our Wood and Resin Tea Tray Line
These trays are made in small batches, with each tray being slightly different from all the others.
Wood slices are selected and arranged inside a frame in order to create a landscape motif. Blue resin is then hand-poured into the trays, which are then let to rest until all bubbles have escaped. The resin hardens, protective lacquer is applied, and the tray is then buffed to a reflective shine. Please Note: This item is made with natural materials so there will be slight variations between each table.
Finally, we have engraved and painted in red the Jesse's Teahouse seal in the corner. Note: Some of our product photos were done before this step was finished, but we are getting new photos soon!
Jesse Says:
On my last trip to China, I looked at some wood and resin tables, and was instantly struck by their ability to be both traditional and innovative.
After a series of discussions on design with the tray manufacturers, we developed two wood and resin trays, including this one: our Half-Moon table!
This table is full of amazing shapes. The table is a rectangle, with the bottom half made from two pieces of overlapped wood that create a mountain range visual under an azure blue resin sky.
A subtle half-moon is carved into the tray, collecting spill water towards the center, where it funnels through a golden drain decorated with the Chinese character "Fu" - Happiness.
The quality on these tables is excellent, with a matte finish and smooth feel under the fingers.
We pack the tables in custom foam to protect it during travel, and ship it by boat to our storage warehouse to save cost for our customers. Many large tea trays online are dropshipped from China by air one at a time, and the "free shipping" is the reason the price of the product is so high, not quality of materials.
I am very confident that this is one of the best tea tables of this style available outside of China!
