Porous Ceramic “Teahouse Seal” Tea Table

It’s a tea-absorbing tea tray!
Pour your water and tea all over this tray, and it soaks right in, disappearing in an instant!
This tea tray is made from ceramic, using a new technique which creates a network of porous channels that absorb liquid. The result looks like magic!
The tray is heavy, sturdy, and strong. It is a good size for groups of up to four, and the seal’s carving width has been managed such that all your tea things will sit evenly on the top of the table.
As it is used, it develops a natural colored patina in the shade of your teas. Now instead of just feeding your tea pets, you can raise your tea table as well!
New “Gongfu Basics” Tea Set Combo
Match this tea table with our new gongfu basics tea set! Select the “Tea Table + Set” option above.
For an extra $18, we can match a simple startup set, featuring:
- 1 Dehua porcelain Gaiwan, with hand-written calligraphy reading “知山 知水 知茶 知人” - Know the mountains, know the waters, know the tea, know the people.”
- 2 Dehua porcelain white cups
- 1 glass fairness pitcher
- 1 lightweight aluminum filter
It’s everything you need to get going at minimal cost.
Many of our tea tables come without equipment, because some people already have equipment and we don’t want to force people to buy sets they don’t need.
But this meant many customers wanted basic sets and then had to buy a set separately, and the budget for getting into Gongfu tea kept going up.
Since my goal is to help make Gongfu tea more accessible, this new tea set will be paired as an option on our mid-ranged tea sets, so we can get to teatime sooner!
Jesse’s Teahouse Seal Design
The main design feature of this table is the Jesse’s Teahouse official seal, which is deeply etched into the center of the design.
This seal is a copy of the original Jesse’s Teahouse jade seal, which was hand carved by Master Calligrapher Tang Qingnian, whose carved calligraphy is featured in the Garden of Lingering Scent in the Huntington Library and Gardens in San Marino, CA.

Jesse Says:
As the teahouse grows, we are trying as hard as possible to make unique items that fit our teahouse community, don’t use any AI art, and are not available anywhere else.
This tray is an example of the extra work needed to come through on these goals. We poured unique molds so that we are the only people able to create these trays with our teahouse seal.
A Quick Q&A:
Will it grow mold? Does it need to be cleaned?
While moderate amounts of water will automatically evaporate, if you use large amounts of water, or you live in a very humid environment, you may need to take care of the table.
To maintain the table, you can microwave the whole tray until dry.
Will it stain?
Yes, the tea table will stain - it will gather a tea-colored patina. Similar to a tea pet, your collected tea sessions will blend together into a patina of use.
I personally think it looks great with the patina, changing from the tan-grey color of the original table to something darker that looks more like old parchment. As with your tea pets, showing the tea tray has had many good teatimes can be considered a benefit which makes this table even more unique.
How the patina looks depends on what teas you use and where you pour them. The resulting look will be organic and natural.
