Jesse’s Eight Incense Sampler

Incense & Tea

Incense and Tea have a long shared history, as tea drinkers throughout the ages have found the calming scent and natural beauty of the smoke to fit right in alongside their tea sessions.

Buddhist and Daoist monks – many of them tea drinkers – have also found that the scent of incense helps maintain mindfulness by alerting oneself to the scent of their surroundings, and putting the mind in a state of calming focus.

Whether paired with tea or simply lit to infuse a room with scent, this incense sampler is a perfect starting point for people interested in quality Chinese incense made with all-natural ingredients and no chemical additives.

What’s in the Sampler?

Each sampler contains three sticks each (24 sticks total) of:

Indian Old Arbor Sandalwood

From 100+ Year Old Indian sandalwood Trees

Aged Cambodian Agarwood

From 100+ year old Cambodian agarwood trees

Ambergris Agarwood

Agarwood with small amounts of real ambergris

Mohong Rose

Scent of Yunnan’s most fragrant varietal of rose flower

Ginseng

Real ginseng scent from ginseng grown in Traditional Chinese Medicinal gardens

Pinecone

Reminiscent of deep forests

Ice Beauty

Proprietary blend of agarwood, sandalwood, camphor, wild ginger

Etheria

Proprietary blend of agarwood, sandalwood, angelica dahurica, magnolia bud, siler, xanthium strumarium, mint, houttuynia herb

Each Eight Incense Sampler also comes with a small metal alloy incense holder that you can either remove or keep with the sampler.

Each stick is weighed so as to burn for 20 minutes, meaning each sampler provides 8 hours of total burn time.

Jesse Says:

When I lived in China, I saw – and smelled – incense all around, whether it’s lingering in the halls of temples, or displayed on altars in peoples’ homes.

Incense is a tricky product though. It comes in many scents and at various prices, from giant boxes for a dollar to hundreds of dollars per gram. How would I know what I’m getting, and what’s really in it?

Luckily, through my tea connections, I was able to get in touch with a 70-year old incense company whose master blenders patiently taught me the core principles of incense – quality ingredients, no chemical scents, and using only natural plant-based binders to allow the various scented powders to be pressed into sticks.

This sampler is the one I would want to buy myself but could never find on the market, even in China.

It combines some of my personal favorite classic scents (sandalwood) alongside my favorite higher-end Chinese coveted scents (agarwood, also known as “oud”).

It also has a few familiar scents (like rose) and some of the proprietary blends put together by our incense guys (like Etheria).

I’m a tea guy, not an incense guy, but as a tea guy who’s smelled his share of incense, I approached putting this sampler together the same way I approach my tea samplers: variety, quality, and as much value as I can get while maintaining those first two.

Come Back For Your Favorites!

All eight scents are available as individual packs, which come with 5g of incense inside a custom slide-open package which includes its own incense holder!

The package is perfectly sized to sit alongside a tea table, or be packed in a bag so you can have a sensory break in any environment.

Jesse Says: I keep an eight incense sampler in my travel backpack, so while on the road, I can light incense as an evening ritual and feel a little bit more grounded while traveling.
