“ALAN! ALAN!”

A voice calls from deep within the earth.

“Who’s there?” I ask, my eyes scanning the ground, wondering who – or what – might have made the noise.

The year is 2009. I am wandering the countryside in England. I am lost - both in the literal and figurative sense of the word. Reality weighs heavy upon me.

“ALAN!” It comes again.

“Who are you??” I cry.

“Oh, no, that’s Steve.” the voice says. “STEVE! STEVE!”

“I’m JESSE!” I wail.

It does not matter.
