What is Hainanese Yellow Rosewood Leaf?
The wood of the Yellow Rosewood tree has long been a top choice for the highest quality Chinese furniture, revered amongst Emperors and Scholars.
This "tea" is made from the leaves of this tree. While these are not Camellia Sinensis (tea tree) leaves, the leaves are picked, withered, fermented, and roasted as if they were tea leaves, creating a nutty, sweet brew that is naturally caffeine-free, since the leaves never had caffeine to begin with.
This is a unique product which is new even in China, one that utilizes the expertise and historical techniques of traditional tea-making with a new leaf for a new flavor.
It can be brewed Gongfu or Western style, with a surprising amount of re-steeps for an herbal tea.
Our farmer partners in Hainan have developed the special techniques needed to make gongfu-style Yellow Rosewood Leaf.

This is the best thing I have found so far for people who want to drink something that tastes like Chinese tea at night without any caffeine at all.
That is why I was so excited to find the Yellow Rosewood leaf, which is being produced with traditional techniques, and has a flavor that is somewhat similar to red tea, with a nutty and sweet flavor.
It isn't exactly like a tea leaf tea, but it is far more similar to tea leaf tea than any other herbal tea option I have found so far.
I hope you will give it a try - this will be a new taste for tea drinkers and something that is not as well known outside China, but I have made it many times now for friends of mine in the States and had great reviews from herbal tea and tea leaf tea drinkers alike.
Hainan Island Paradise
Hainan Island is a tropical island off the Southern coast of China, near Thailand and Vietnam. It is sparsely populated outside of its coastline, where the sandy beaches are dotted with luxury resorts, giving the island the nickname "The Hawai'i of China."
The Yellow Rosewood trees are grown far inland, away from people and pollution, and are protected because of the value of their wood.
