Jesse believes the key to making good tea is to help his Chinese tea friends share not just their best teas, but the best ways to make the teas.
That's why each box comes also comes with an info card that tells you:
- Tea Origin
- Steep Temperature
- Steep Time
- Directions for both teapot steeping and gaiwan steeping
All Jesse’s Teahouse Tea Friends (that’s you now!) also get access to private YouTube videos where Jesse and his Chinese tea friends show you how to make the teas and explain the tea-making process.
The links are on QR codes on the back of the info card included in the tea box.
In Chinese Gongfu Tea Tradition, Tea Pets accompany you at teatime and you "raise" them by feeding them tea! Check out the tea pets at the bottom of this page.

Great alternative to caffeinated tea, but still lets you practice gung fu method anytime. Tastes nutty but also the familiar roasting notes that the preparation adds to red/black tea leaves. Leaves a cool finish. Very impressed with this one.
Lovely scent and flavor but it's a bit too light for my taste, even when I doubled my usual quantity and steeped for an extended time. Was fun to try!
The first taste threw me off because I was expecting something more directly akin to camellia tea, and yes there are similar notes, but I wouldn't necessarily call it a one-to-one replacement for tea. But it does satisfy the same craving for something warm and leafy! Though a little more blatantly leafy than I was expecting? But not in a bad way. The taste evokes rainstorms on a backpacking trip, surrounded by fresh wet leaves on the ground, and newly cut wood. I get a hint of walnut shells on the tail end. It's SUPER clean and smooth, with absolutely no bitterness or astringency to speak of. There's a noticeable sweetness that lingers on the tongue, maybe even some subtle notes of diluted hot chocolate. The infusion is very dark and almost crystal clear. Despite the initial surprise, the more I drink it, the more I like it! I would definitely recommend trying it out, but with the expectation of meeting it on its own terms, not on black tea's terms.
This place is going to make me a tea snob, the quality of tea is so high and it taste great. Highly recommend for anyone who likes a light blend
The best not-tea tea I’ve ever had!
